Laboratory Services

The staff at Ellett Memorial Hospital Laboratory is committed to providing accurate and reliable results to assist our providers in the quick diagnosis of patients.  Laboratory services are utilized by our inpatients, Emergency Department patients, outpatient clinic patients as well as by patients of the Appleton City Rural Health Clinic.  We also accept valid laboratory orders from providers outside of Ellett Memorial Hospital/ACRHC. 

Lab Results

If you have received any kind of testing at Ellett Memorial Hospital, including a COVID-19 specific swab, please contact the healthcare provider who ordered the test for your results.  Our laboratory staff is unable to release lab results.  Lab results also automatically populate in the Patient Portal.

With state of the art technology and a partnership with LabCorp of Kansas City, EMH laboratory is able to provide our patients with complete laboratory services.  A variety of tests are performed at the EMH Laboratory.  Just a few examples include:

• Serology - Pregnancy tests, RSV, Mono, Influenza, Covid-19 Ag. 
• Chemistry - PSA, TSH, Hemoglobin A1c, Lipids, Sodium, Potassium
• Hematology - Complete Blood Count, PT/INR, PTT
• Urinalysis and Urine Drug Screen*

Donors for non-DOT employer-requested drug screens do not need to register in Admissions, please come straight to the laboratory.  Our Laboratory does not perform breath alcohol testing or court-ordered drug screen collections.

DOT drug screen collections are performed by appointment Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00AM-5:00PM.  Please call (660) 476-5239 to schedule your appointment.  

Laboratory Hours

The EMH Laboratory is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for patient testing.  Please bring your identification and insurance information as this will be needed when you check in.  For the most efficient service, please register in the following area prior to coming to the laboratory:

• Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-5:00 PM - Outpatient Admissions Desk in the Front Lobby 
• Weekends, Holidays, and from weeknights from 5:00 PM-6:30 AM - Emergency Room Admissions Desk

Accreditation

The EMH Laboratory is accredited by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). The Laboratory is staffed at all times and testing is performed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Testing that is not performed at EMH is sent to LabCorp with Pathology Services provided by KC Pathology.
